The Blu-ray Disc Association was no doubt pleased to announce that in less than a year, sales of Blu-ray discs have hit the one million mark in under a year. Last month alone they took over 70 percent of the market for next generation, high definition DVD sales.
To put this in perspective, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest sold 15 million copies in the US during the first week of release alone. When the Matrix was released on DVD in the earlier days of the format, it sold 3 million copies by the year 2000.
