Posted on 2 Mar, 2009 by Scott under Cell Phones

Toshiba is a renowned firm, which manufacturers wide-ranging electronics devices such as television sets, laptops and others since many years. However, this firm is now going to announce its most awaited new Smartphone, Toshiba TG01. The Toshiba TG01 is a 3G enabled Smartphone.

The Toshiba TG01 is one of the latest touchscreen mobile phones. In addition, it is believed that the TG01 is one of the thinnest mobile phones with touchscreen display. TG01 is only 9.9 mm thick, which is thinner compare to the Apple’s iPhone. In addition, the Toshiba TG01 has a 4.1-inch wide touchscreen with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. This handset is currently holding a record of widest display.

The TG01 is the first device to be running on a Qualcomm T-Snapdragon chipset of 1 GHz, which makes this device faster than most of its competitors. This device is integrated with accelerometers that make it easy to operate this handset. For example, users can answer the incoming calls just by shaking this device.

Toshiba TG01 comes with Bluetooth 2.0 that allow users to share their files with other Bluetooth enabled devices. In addition, the TG01 supports Wi-Fi and EDGE so that users can connect to the Internet easily. This device also has built-in GPS feature that allow users to locate their destination on their go.

The Toshiba TG01 has an additional slot for memory card that allow users to expand the memory space to store their multimedia and office files. This device runs on Windows Mobile 6 operating system that supports various third-party tools. In addition, it has a 1.3 mega-pixel camera for capturing amazing stills and videos.

This device is likely to be released in European countries in this summer. However, the cost of this device is still unknown. In addition, no information is available of releasing this device in the American states. However, Toshiba TG01 may become more popular than Apple’s iPhone.

Hi Narendra ;)

Just wondered if you knew whether these phones hold up to standards in the daylight? What I mean is; some of these Internet phones screens are unreadable when light hits the screen – is this true for this phone?

Andy ;)

This phone looks amazing. Razor thin and very crisp graphics. I’m curious to see if it comes to the US and what kind of price we’ll see.

I disagree, this phone won’t achieve 1/10th of the iphone’s popularity.
This is just another one sad attempt of an iphone competitor, phone makers think that by making a touchscreen they’ll have a good chance to beat the iphone, but the iphone has way more functions and apps and a great amount of developers.. this phone just won’t cut it. Now the palm pre… I have my hopes on that.

It’s cute. But everybody and his dog want an iPhone today. I think it’ll be hard for this mobile to have huge success.

@Hart Granite: It’s just common in most mobile phones.
@Germz: Maybe that’s true but more of this kind phones bring more changes to future mobiles.

I agree with G Web, Toshiba may just become a major contender in the mobile market.
