10 Most Amazing Robots of the World

Posted on 29 Oct, 2008 by Scott under Tech Gadgets

The technology is working so fine that everyday, there is a new Invention in every field, where science is approachable.

Be it the Space Science, Aeronautical, Gadgets, Medicine or whatever you name it.

I’ll talk about gadgets in this post, I have been a fan of this website, and the technology portion of this website is just awesome.

Well, let me add some more information to this thing.

We all must have seen these robots in Movies, like iRobot, AI, Transformers.

but we never believed they exist, or if someone amongst us believes, he has a mindset about robots, that they are evil and are going to finish the mankind, just like it is shown in movies.

Here are few of Robots which has fascinated everyone.

The Still is Taken from the Movie iRobot (2004)

10. Robotic Lego Bartender

Lego blocks can be used to build just about anything,be is a iPod casing, a Laptop , a computer or  this robotic bartender which was spotted at CeBIT 2006.

Looks smart, makes you coffee or beer, whatever you say.

9.TomCat – The Quadrupedal Robot

this thing is the fastest moving robot, which is capable of running at approx 2 body lengths/sec. the tom cat is primarily use by researchers to investigate the “principles of the neurocontrol of movement”. Unfortunately , they are only available in limited quantities to research community, video clip after the jump.

Its actions are just like a cat. more sensitivity is going to be added soon

8. RHex – The Robotic Pooch

Boston Dynamics brings you RHex, a robotic pooch that can climb over just about anything (grass, mud, railroad tracks, etc.). RHex has a sealed body which allows it to operate in wet conditions and dive underwater.

if this thing could be made a little big, this could have made few labor work so easy.

7. "RunBot" – The Fastest Robot on Two Legs

this is a two legged romot, developed by researchers from Germany and Scotland. this thing is cleaimed to tbe the fastest for its size, with a 3.5 leg lenghts per second stride.

It measures 30cm high and has sensors that detect when a foot touches the ground or lunges forward. The robot’s walk cycle is controlled by neuron mimicking software. Video clip after the jump.

take a look at the video, the actions are just like the legs of a human being. it runs and not just walks.

6. Robonova-1 – King of the Robot Jungle

This modified Robonova-1 is able to climb ropes, swing from trees, and perform a variety of other tricks.

This reminds me of a videogame is used to play in my childhood, Contra, he has a ability to climb, jump and d o all the tricks, and that is why it is called a jungle king.

5. EveR-1 Female Android

Korean scientists have developed the world’s first (Japanese speaking?) female android, the EveR-1, which stands 1.6m tall and weighs approx. 110 pounds. It’s capable of understanding 400 words, speaking, and making facial expressions via fifteen motors embedded into her silicon face. Video clip after the jump.

the silicon makes her face just like any other real girl. and this could be called the most beautiful robot so far.

“For now, EveR-1 can be employed as a guide robot at museums and department stores or as an educational model to read books to children,” Baeg said. But we are looking further ahead _ we are working on upgrading the android with the aim of making it move its legs by the end of this year. It will be able to sit down and stand up by then,” he expects.”

4. The Robotic Chair

How about a chair (remote controlled) that can put itself back together? That’s right, the D’Andrea Group has created a nifty robotic chair that can break apart — for easy transportation — and reconstruct itself within two minutes. Video clip after the jump.

If you wouldn’t know about this, you must have got shocked watching this thing shrink.

3. Cockroach Controlled Mobile Robot

Put simply, this "Cockroach Controlled Mobile Robot" is one of the strangest creations we’ve seen. Basically, a Madagascan hissing cockroach controls a three wheeled robot by being placed atop a modified trackball. It was developed by Garnet Hertz, who specializes in "animal-machine-hybrids". this one is the most amazing robot i have ever seen.

2.Six-Legged Robot with PS Controller Port

This “autonomous/RC crawling 6 legged robot with 14 RC servos” proves that Playstation controllers are good for more than just playing games. It uses the controller to test walk cycles and for changing parameters in real time. The body is constructed from precision-milled plywood and was designed on a PC. when i look at its movement in the video, i feel its a spider. could also be called Spider Robo.Video clip after the jump.

1. WR-07 – A Real Transformer

you must have watched the Movie, but did you believe in those Aliens?

Here is a real transformer in from of you, Made by Hemji Soft Japan, this one is called the real Transforming robot.

It turns from car to robot in a matter of seconds.

Now, after watching all these Robots, you must be aware of, how far that technology has gone, well, its not just one field where technology has done wonders.

i’ll be covering all other areas in my upcoming posts, so stay tuned.
