Palm Pre: All set to make a mark in this hi-tech world

Palm Pre: All set to make a mark in this hi-tech world

The Palm Pre is all set to make its mark in this hi-tech world. It is believed that the Palm Pre could be available from March on a Sprint cellular network. However, this device will not be available immediately in all stores after its launch.

Palm revealed the power of Pre on the previous month’s Consumer Electronics Show. However, the pricing of this device is still kept a secret. It is believed that the device can rule the cellular market and may rule out all other highly advanced phones, if the price of this device is affordable.

The Palm Pre is sleek in design with 3.1-inch touchscreen display, which has a resolution of 320 x 480 pixels. In addition, this device has a full QWERTY keyboard that slides out in a downward direction. The phone also comes with accelerometers for switching the phone from portrait mode to landscape mode and vice-versa for widescreen browsing.

Palm claims that the Palm Pre is similar to laptop with respect to speed and power, as it runs on a new TI OMAP CPU and a new webOS operating system. It is integrated with Evolution-Data Optimized (EV-DO) Rev. A that features uninterrupted connectivity anywhere around the world. This device comes with built-in GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.0.

The Palm Pre comes with 8GB of phone memory to store office documents and multimedia files. In addition, this device has a 3-megapixel camera with flash to capture stills of high quality. It is believed that the phone is equipped with many unknown features such as capability to integrate contacts from the phone’s address book into Gmail, Outlook Exchange, Facebook and other websites.

According to Palm, this Smartphone will only be available with Sprint for first six months. The firm is still planning to announce details regarding the pricing and releasing dates of Palm Pre.

Turn your Windows Mobile Phone into plug and play Mass Storage Device

Most of phones of Nokia,Sony ericsson, motorola etc, have plug and play support. When connected to any computer, mobile Phone acts like a Memory Card reader. But Windows mobile don’t have this feature. So it is very difficult to use it as a storage device without the active synchronization software installed on the computer.I wonder how many people are annoyed with using Windows Mobile based phones. But there is solution to it.You can use your windows mobile phones as mass storeage device,by using WM5torage free software.(Also there are alternate commercial applications beside this)
Download

Install it on your phone.Activate mass storage mode whenever you want.It also has read-only lock,so that you files don’t get deleted accidentally. You even can backup your firmware using WM5torage.

New Google Search app for Nokia Smartphones

Google doesn’t like slow things. They have come up with an interesting application for Nokia Smartphone users (N Series and E Series). You can download a small search shortcut directly to your phone’s homescreen. After installation you’ll be able to bring up a Google search box by clicking a shortcut button, type in a query and get straight to the results. You will not have to manually open the phone’s browser, type in Google.com or 466453.com(That’s a shortcut url to Google.com made for mobile phone users) and then enter you search keys.

Google Search App for Nokia Smartphones
According to Google Mobile team’s research, there is as much as a 40 percent reduction in the average time to complete an initial search. You can download the app by heading to mobile.google.com on your Nokia device. You can also see an example of how the search box looks like and how much time is saved by using this application here.

My Personal Comments: This app works pretty well with my Nokia N95. It would be better if they disable the frequent “Press ctl to search” reminder and if they let the users decide the shortcut button to open the search dialogue. Anyways, it pretty much saves my time!
