They say that we all live now in the multi-touch, multi-task and all-in-one virtual devices generation. As ambitious as it was decades ago, we can truly say that this same ambition materializes now as we experience it with the kind of technology that we have. What’s new with the updates of technological ambitions?

Tablet in November?

Behold another first in the history of Apple Inc. on being the pioneer in technological innovations. Apple Insiders claim to have it on good authority that we will witness a launch of an Apple tablet available in the market most likely in November or year-end time frame.Sounds like fun? Wait until you hear some of its “rumored features”. If you have a craze on MacBooks and iPhones and you would want to own both, read on. Imagine a device made with a:

  • 12-inch touch screen with 3G connectivity controlled by slide-out keyboards
  • a stylus, a digital pen or a combination of the three.

It will come out like an over-sized iPhone built like a crossover between the iPhone and MacBook Air. It is essentially dubbed as a large iPhone or iPod touch with the features and systems of a Mac laptop. The device needs a visibly larger screen to differentiate it from the iPhone, but small enough to keep it portable and at the size of a book that easily slips in one’s briefcase. Another reason for the size is for it to enable comfortable media playback and a convenient content creation capability. With that, it only says that this tablet with a slightly larger version than the iPhone would prove to be a best device in content creation that works best for social networking and documents editing in working environments impossible to imagine. Talk about convenient and form-factor design.

Apple Tablet Software Features

Now, we go to its software features. This device they say will run the full scaled-down versions of the Apple Mac OS X with various Mac OS X v10.5 (Leopard), comes with a 2.1 Ghz processor, 1GB onboard memory, along with the standard set of connectivity options you expect from a Macintosh computer: Airport, USB, Ethernet, Bluetooth and FireWire applications and will have a slot loading SuperDrive, an “iPhone-type” GPS chip and an Intel Core Duo processor, presumably the microprocessors of Intel’s Atom. Applications developed for the tablet PC cater to the form factor and functionality available on the platform. I know that these specifications are what software geeks are dying to know.

Tablet Will Focus On Video, Mobile Content

Every Apple lover will surely enjoy the focus of this tablet on media player and mobile content. It is noted that Apple is interesting in the lead of personal media players. If the iPhone is a great media player, a Mac tablet with a larger screen could take you from a smallish screen to a more convenient display. A large screen, extended battery life and a modified version of OS X could make it an attractive device to show off your photos and watch movies on the go along with the focus on E-book reading and Gaming.

Also, what separates it from other Apple multi-touch inputs is the unique inclusion of stylus from Wacom, powered by Apple’s Inkwell software. Inkwell boasts amazing handwriting recognition which performs far better than does its Microsoft based competition. In tests, even the most illegible of handwriting was recognized and translated into readable text on screen- quite a feat, especially in what is a relatively early stage as far as the history of handwriting recognition software goes. Inkwell is truly an advanced system and it will be fascinating where Apple takes this functionality in the future. If multi-touch works well on the iPhone, imagine it on a mobile device with a larger screen. It would eliminate the need for a physical keyboard, while a virtual keyboard would work much better on a screen larger than the iPhone. Amazing right? A device that recognizes your own handwriting, it doesn’t get any better than that.

Tablet Materials

How about your concerns on durability? With Apple Inc.’s profile on gadgets, one will not doubt its productions when it comes to quality and durability. AppleInsiders say that this tablet will be made up from a striking chrome finish tops a double layer of metal plating (nickel and copper), all over a magnesium alloy casing similar to that used in aircraft. This is certainly one durable portable – these units are built to last. The finish is satin, but mirror finished chrome will be available within the next month or two for those who demand that their shiny new computer be well, shiny. The durability factor doesn’t end with the casing however. The screen and camera are protected by glass for increased durability and scratch resistance compared to the plastic covered LCD screens typically seen in portable computing. The screen and cover are exceptionally bright and clear as well, thanks to an anti-reflective coating on the underside of the screen and an acid treatment on the outer side to reduce glare and “sparkle” effects. This is another feature many who use laptops and other portable computers on a daily basis will surely appreciate.

Tablet Price

And then there is the question: how much would it cost? The new device, insiders say, may retail for $699 to $799. The Apple tablet may break your bank, but for those big bucks you’d get a device that would be able to, among other things, do functions of a phone and a laptop in one. This may sound a bit too much but it is inarguable that tablet laptops really cost more expensive than other computer devices not only for their sleek and compact designs but also because of the many features that they present to techie consumers. Also, if Apple feels it can build a product worthy of its brand, then it will do so with no compromise in quality.

Tablet Rumors

For many Apple avid followers, the plethora of rumors and anticipation over Apple’s newest tablet device proves that the varying confidence on the product remains to be on the highest point. Apple would be insane to never release a product that so many consumers want blindly considering the various positive feedbacks that they get from them. So would Apple risk its iPhone mojo on an unproven device that nobody may want, or are we truly at the point where the world will just go nuts for anything Apple comes out with? If the rumors are correct, we may know the answer to that question very soon. One thing remains, if this release will realize then it will be yet another great rally for Apple earnings and the next big thing when it comes to techie craze.
