India for Mobile TV!

If proper spectrum is supplied to the Mobile Service Providers, they would start off with a service that the Indian mobile users have been long waiting for - Mobile TV. Mobile users will finally get to see their favorite TV channels while on the move.

Mobile TV allows customers to view television content on their mobile devices that they get through traditional cable or pay TV subscriptions at home. Countries such as Japan and Korea have already leapfrogged in the mobile TV sphere.

According to a research, 84% of mobile phone users are interested in using mobile TV service if they are provided with affordable usage plans. At first the pricing would be flat fee based in the form of monthly subscription fee only. As the market matures, usage-based fees would be introduced such as pay-per-view or pay-on-demand.

Users will get to see only a few channels categorized mainly under news, sports and music videos when this service is newly introduced and will later increase with the growth of the user base.
